Last year’s Cars & Stripes attracted all sorts of fantastic cars, trucks and bikes, and if anything this year’s event on July 2/3 is going to be bigger and better.
You’ll be able to get up close to all sorts of American automobiles from Hot Rods to Harley-Davidsons, vintage classics to modern masters and racing machines to movie stars as well as seeing many in action in parades on the Rockingham track.
Hot Rod Alley
Hot Rod Alley will dazzle you with its coolly stylish hot rods and street rods based on American classic cars. Many of these fine and funky automobiles are being brought to Rockingham by enthusiasts from across the UK.
These cars have their roots in American automobiles radically modified for racing on the street, the drag strip, and the salt flats – and they’re just great to look at.
In 2015, Cars & Stripes attracted huge numbers from the National Street Rod Association (NSRA) who brought a range of classics of all shapes and sizes for visitors across the generations to enjoy.
American Muscle Cars
Corvettes, Mustangs, Vipers – icons all, and you can see many examples of these cars on show at Cars & Stripes. You’ll be able to get up close to these American muscle cars, and many other makes and models too, in the dedicated car display arena, and you’ll be able to see and hear them in motion when they participate in track parades.
Harley-Davidsons and Custom Bikes
Of all sights on the road, what could be more American than a Harley-Davidson? These legendary highway cruisers from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, defined a whole type of riding, lent themselves readily to customising, and spawned the chopper-style motorcycle, an Easy Rider style immortalised on the Big Screen. It’s only right, then, that the displays at Cars & Stripes will include Harleys and other custom bikes.
A popular draw in 2015 with their towering cabs, custom paint jobs, gleaming chrome work, big wheels, and monumental power plants, these thundering giants of the road will be back to Rockingham on July 2/3.
You can see and hear many of these impressive machines as the owners proudly parade their trucks on track, or drop in for a pit stop at the display area for a quick chat to learn more about these American beasts.
Custom Cars and Street Machines
In this era of mass produced automobiles, custom cars stand out. Each of these cars is unlike any other – modified, customised, individual, a highly personal styling statement.
Marvel at the way owners have shoehorned-in bigger engines and transmissions, lowered suspensions, widened wheels and tyres, cut-down or chopped off roofs, enlarged fenders and bonnet bulges, darkened windows, painted bodywork like sculpted works of art, and make the chromework gleam so fiercely it dazzles.
In 2015, members of the UK Street Machines entertained the crowds with their smokey wheel-spins and roaring engines in the Street Car Shoot-Outs on the Cars & Stripes drag strip.
